Link Jellyfin
Link the Jellyfin server you already run to Asbern with one press and a Quick Connect code, so members can browse and search it from Discord — and set up Seerr for requests.
Your box can link the Jellyfin server you already run, so members can browse and search your Jellyfin library from Discord. You never type a Jellyfin password or address into Discord. It needs Your Asbern Box.
Link It
- Open /menu › Other › Admin › Box, press Status, then Link Jellyfin. Your box looks for your Jellyfin and shows a six-character code on a card only you can see.
- In Jellyfin, open your profile, then Quick Connect, and type the code.
- Back in Discord, press Check again. The row says which Jellyfin it linked.
If Jellyfin says Quick Connect is off, switch it on in Jellyfin's Dashboard › General › Quick Connect and press Link Jellyfin again.
Your box keeps the sign-in Quick Connect gave it, on the box; it never reaches us. To let it go, use the Jellyfin row on your box's card: your box forgets the sign-in and signs out of Jellyfin. Your Jellyfin and its library are not touched.
Use an account that is not an administrator. If you approve the code while signed in to Jellyfin as an administrator, the card says so and recommends a separate, ordinary Jellyfin user for Asbern: an ordinary user sees only what Asbern needs.
Where Your Box Looks
Your box finds a Jellyfin that runs in Docker on the same machine, or one on the machine itself. It never searches your home network. A Jellyfin anywhere else is named on the box, never in Discord:
docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern jellyfin set <address>
- The address is the one you open Jellyfin at, with its port (8096 unless you changed it) and
httporhttpsin front. Name it by its IP address, or by a name your router answers. A.localname usually does not work from inside a container. - A Jellyfin you name this way is linked first, before one your box found by itself.
docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern jellyfin set noneforgets it.
What Members Get
- On a server with Jellyfin and no Plex, Browse and Search under /menu › Community › Watch read your Jellyfin library.
- Playing a Jellyfin title together, Resume and Live TV still need Plex. Without Plex they are greyed, with the reason.
Requests Through Seerr
If you run Seerr, Add New can file members' requests there instead of on the Plex Watchlist. Set it on the box; each command asks for the value without showing it:
docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern secret set seerr SEERR_URL
docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern secret set seerr SEERR_API_KEY
docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern secret set seerr SEERR_USER
SEERR_URLis the address you open Seerr at (port 5055 unless you changed it): its IP address or a name your router answers.SEERR_API_KEYis in Seerr's Settings › General.SEERR_USERis the Seerr user requests are filed as, and it is required: without it, or with a user Seerr does not know, Seerr is not used and Add New keeps using the Plex Watchlist. Any user Seerr knows will do, and that user's own Seerr settings decide each request.docker exec -it asbern-agent asbern secret list seerrsays which are set, never what they are.
What it Costs
Nothing. Asbern is free: every feature on this page is included in every server, and no card is needed.
