Self-hosting

Asbern is a self-hostable bot that also happens to be offered hosted. Nothing about it assumes our infrastructure.

What you need

• Docker, and a machine that stays on.
• A Discord bot token.
• Nothing else. Every integration - Plex, game servers, media - is optional and degrades to a disabled menu section with an explanation, never a crash.

First run

A fresh install with a token and nothing else boots, reports what is missing, and does not throw. There is no setup wizard to sit through: the guild id, the client id and a UTC default are all written on the join.

What the subscription is for

The hosted version, the updates, and support. If you self-host, you are running the same bot.
