Moderation Log

The moderation log writes what happens in your server to a staff channel, so a question asked a week later has an answer. You choose which kinds of entry are written and where each one goes.

Switching it On

Both controls are on /menu › Other › Admin › Moderation › Server.

• Logging is the master switch for the whole server, and sets the default channel entries go to. Once set, the default channel shows as a row with Remove, which unsets it without switching logging off.
• Log events switches one kind of entry on or off, and can send it to a channel of its own. Leave its channel blank and the entry goes to the default.

Staff logging is off until an admin switches it on, and each kind of entry stays off until it is switched on with Log events too — the Logging result says so when nothing is on yet.

What Can Be Logged

• Moderation — a new case, a case's reason edited, and a case voided.
• Members — joined, left, banned, unbanned, roles changed, and nickname changed.
• Messages — a message deleted or edited, and a bulk delete: who, where and when, never what it said.
• Server — channels and roles created, deleted or updated, and invites created or deleted.
• Voice — joining, leaving and moving between voice channels.

What it Leaves Out

Message text is never logged or stored: only the kinds of entry that can be written without reading what anyone said are offered. Work the bot does on its own is not logged either, so a rank role it hands out does not fill the channel with role changes. An action an admin takes from the console is still logged, under that admin. An entry is never posted into the channel it is about.

What it Costs

Nothing. Asbern is free: every feature on this page is included in every server, and no card is needed.
