Polls

Put a question to the server and let everyone vote with buttons — admins start polls, and members can too once an admin allows it.

A poll asks the server one question and lets everyone vote with a button. Admins can always start one, and members can too once an admin switches that on.

For Members

/menu › Other › Polls lists the polls running here; open one and press an option to vote. You get one vote in each poll. A poll closes at its end time and shows its tally.

Starting one with New poll asks for:

the question, up to 300 characters;
the answers, one per line, from two to ten;
how many hours it runs, from 1 to 168 — a day if you leave it as it is;
a channel to post it in, if you want one. Left empty, the poll stays on the Polls screen, where everyone can still vote. You can only post it in a channel you can post in yourself.

Each person can start three polls in any 24 hours. A poll with too many answers is refused rather than trimmed, and what you typed is kept for your next try.

For Admins

Polls are on from the start. Under /menu › Other › Admin › Engagement, Polls switches the feature off and on, and Member polls decides who may start one. With it off, only admins start polls and members vote; with it on, every member can start one too. Until it is on, a member's Polls screen says only admins can start one.
