Getting started

Add Asbern to your server and be configured in about two minutes.

Add the bot

Invite Asbern from the button on the site. Discord will ask which server, and which permissions to grant. Grant them all — the bot degrades gracefully if something is missing, but you will hit avoidable errors otherwise.

What happens automatically

The moment Asbern joins, three things are already done for you:

  • Your guild is registered. The bot knows its own id and yours; nothing to type.
  • A timezone is set to UTC. Change it in one press if you are elsewhere — everything that says "today" depends on it.
  • A Server Manager role is created, hoisted, with the bot in it. That role is how someone who is not a Discord Administrator opens the admin console.

There is no setup wizard, and that is deliberate. A server that has just added the bot is already configured.

Open the admin console

Run /menu, then More → Admin. Everything the bot can be configured to do is in there — there is no config file to edit, and nothing that requires a developer.

If you cannot see the console, you are neither a Discord Administrator nor in the Server Manager role. Ask someone who is to add you.

The one thing worth doing first

Set a moderator channel under Settings. It is optional, but until it is set, moderation notices have nowhere private to go. Everything else has a sensible default.
